Saturday Night Crash On Almaville Road, Off I-24 Exit

(SMYRNA TN) At 6:33PM Saturday night (2/8/2020), Smyrna Police along with Smyrna Fire Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of Almaville Road at Courier Place for a serious traffic crash.

The accident was at 1883 Almaville Road, near I-24, and in front of the Mapco convenience store.

Upon arrival, First Responders located a white Ford Ecsort and a red Toyota Highlander in the roadway, each was heavily damaged.

Smyrna spokesperson Kathy Ferrell told NewsRadio WGNS, "The female driver of the Escort was removed from the vehicle and transported to Vanderbilt Hospital. She is in stable condition. A female passenger in the Escort was transported to TriStar StoneCrest Hospital for treatment."

The driver of the Highlander was treated at the scene.

Traffic was reduced to one lane in both directions for the duration of the incident. All lanes reopened at 9:05 Saturday night.

Local motorists describe this area as a highly congested, 4-lane roadway with turning lane in middle. It comes off the I-24 exit onto Almaville Road. Courier Place is in the heaviest congested area, surrounded by gas stations and fast-food restaurants.

This accident is under investigation.
