Murfreesboro City Schools and The Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra will present the Taste of Latin America this Saturday, October 22. From 10 am until 2 pm students and families can experience music, food, dances, art and activities from Latin America.

The Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Robert Gregg, will begin their performance at 11 am. Gregg, Director of Orchestras for the School of Music at Belmont University, will direct the orchestra as they perform a variety of famous classical and popular music from Latin America and Spain. The orchestra will also perform a traditional Colombian song arranged by John Pittard parent, Ruben Gomez, who is seeking his Master's Degree in Wind Conducting from MTSU. His son, Emilio, will introduce the piece and play the trombone with the orchestra. The selection will also include the performance of a traditional Colombian dance by his wife Maria.

The Taste of Latin America, a cultural immersion program, is open to all Murfreesboro City School students, their families and the community.
