Saturday's Town Hall Meeting on "Hate Crimes"

(MURFREESBORO) A cross section of the community around Twin Oaks Drive came together Saturday afternoon for a TOWN HALL MEETING on Hate Crimes at the Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Community leaders made-up the panel as well as being a part of the audience to get the feelings about hate crimes, as well as other devisive issues, including ways to being better mentors and role models.

After the Town Hall Meeting ended, Pastor Richard Sibert commented on the gathering . . .

Members of the audience were given index cards, and encouraged to write a question or list a concern.

Panel members included Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh, County Commissioner Bob Peay, Murfreesboro City Councilman Ronnie Martin and NAACP Clarksville President Jimmy Garland. Participating from the audience were Murfreesboro Police Chief Michael Bowen, County Commissioner Chantho Sourinho, and Murfreesboro City School Board member Amanda Moore.

The event was coordinated by Goldy Wade, Angella Bingham and Marcus Rhodes. It began at 3:00 Saturday afternoon, and was kept running smoothly with an on-time ending of 4:30PM.
