A developer has proposed to develop 91 townhouses in the area around the Oaklands Park Wetlands. There will be an organizational meeting for SAVE OAKLANDS WETLANDS at 6:30 this coming Thursday evening (6/1/2017) in meeting room A at the Patterson Community Center, 521 Mercury Boulevard.

Center for Historic Preservation Research Assistant William Matthew Whitten made a web comment, "Overpopulation is systematically eradicating the very fabric of not only the natural physical landscape, but our cultural heritage and therefore our societal values. Wetlands are one of the most undervalued ecosystems but provide a range of vital services. They provide food, they filter water and offer a unique habitat for many different species."
