Scales Superstars Give Back To The Community

Scales Elementary School Superstars are learning first-hand how to give back to our wonderful community that supports their children.

"The students, parents, teachers, administration, and PTO are enthusiastically preparing for the annual Scales Yard Sale this Saturday," said Jessica Wauchek, Scales PTO 'Step Up Serve' Event Coordinator. "Our Fall Fair las year was a hit, so we are trying to make it bigger and better: including Vendor Booths, Farmer's Market, P.E. Teachers Obstacle Course, bounce houses, dunking booth, delicious bake sale, cake walk, face painting, photo booth, and famous kettle corn."

"Step UP and Serve Yard Sale and Fair is going to be an event you don't want to miss out on. Come out, Eat , Shop, and Play and help support Scales Elementary and charities." said Victoria Rone, PTO President. "Fourth grade teacher, Mr. John Harding, has won the competition the last three years in a row and the teachers are determined to earn the Spirit Stick for their class this year. It is a hot competition this year to see which classroom raises the most money to support funds for teacher's classrooms, computers, art, music, P.E., with 10% of the proceeds supporting local charities," added Wauchek. "The PTO is excited that our children are learning how to 'step up and serve' and give back to our community."

Proceeds of this fundraiser will go back to the community through charities chosen by the students. This year scales will be presenting donations to the following charities: A Soldiers Child, ACE Learning Center/ Used to be Project HELP, Good Shepard Children's Home,Greenhouse Ministries, Monroe Carrell Jr. Children's Hospital Vanderbilt - Traumatic Brain Injury Dept., Rutherford Co. Books from Birth, Tennessee CASA Association, and Therapeutic Animal Partners.

The community is invited to shop and bring your children to play at the Scales Yard Sale and Fall Fair on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 7 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Scales Elementary is located at 2340 St. Andrews Drive in Murfreesboro.
