The naming of the next Rutherford County School Director will have to wait...

On Tuesday we were told by Rutherford County School Board member Aaron Holliday about a specially called meeting in regards to hiring a new school director...

And then on Wednesday morning, that all changed. Schools Spokesperson James Evans stated, "The Board of Education has rescheduled the vote on naming the next director until April 4 at 5:00 P.M. to give Board members additional time to review the candidates. As such, the previously scheduled meeting for March 21 at 6 p.m."

So at this point, it looks as if the three finalists for the job will have to wait.

The finalists are Central Magnet principal John Ash, Oakland High principal Bill Spurlock and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Richard Zago.

The board has been searching for a new director of schools since Don Odom announced his retirement after 50-years as an educator within the system.
