The sheriff says the children taken to the hospital began complaining of their head hurting. The school bus driver of Bus Number 50, Melissa Morgan, was also taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Rutherford County Schools spokesman James Evans tells NewsRadio WGNS the bus serves Wilson Elementary School. According to Evans, Morgan reported an SUV was traveling toward her bus in her lane of travel. So Morgan swerved to miss a head on collision, which resulted in the bus side-swiping the SUV.

Sheriff Arnold notes a combination of rain slick roadway combined with a narrow Central Valley Road were contributing factors to the crash. Another bus came to the scene and took the students to school.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol conducted the crash investigation.
