Another big company is set to establish their headquarters in Murfreesboro; Schwan Cosmetics USA has selected the city as the site of their new corporate offices, and the Murfreesboro City Council wasted no time leaping forward to assist them at their November 21st meeting, by adopting a resolution in support of a fast-track economic development program for the company, including applications for state grants.  

Three public hearings were held, one to rezone land along New Salem Highway and Saint Andrews Drive, another to annex almost 500 acres along New Salem Highway and Veterans Parkway, and a third to makes changes to the Sign Ordinance Amendment.  Two more public hearings were scheduled, one to consider the rezoning of several properties along Manson Pike, New Salem Highway, and Manchester Highway, and another to update the city’s building codes, which by law must be kept 7 years current.  The current codes in place were adopted in 2006.  Both of those hearings were scheduled for December 19th, which is expected to be the council’s last meeting of the year.
