Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Jim Tracy (R-Shelbyville) made the following statement regarding the efforts of law enforcement this weekend in Murfreesboro and Shelbyville:

"I would like to thank all of our law enforcement officers who helped keep the public safe during the protests this weekend. There is no doubt that the public was protected due to the superb safety and communications plan executed by our local public safety officials in cooperation with our state troopers, TBI agents and others."

"It was also due to the tremendous number of prayers from residents of Shelbyville and Murfreesboro. Hate does not have a place in Tennessee. The protestors were able to exercise their constitutional rights, but the hate of these extremists was overcome by the love of our communities. That is what makes Tennessee so special."
