A groundbreaking ceremony for a new 91,000-square-foot master classroom building on the MTSU campus will take place on Tuesday morning at 9 (9/18/18). The new building will put the Criminal Justice, Psychology and Social Work departments under one roof. MTSU said the estimated completion date is scheduled for the Summer of 2020.

The MTSU building was ranked at No. 1 on the higher education priority list by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The cost of the construction is expected to be $39.6 million.

MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee and others will give brief remarks and do a ceremonial shoveling of the dirt for the new state-funded building.

This three-story innovative center will provide much-needed classroom, office, and lab spaces. Plans for flexible classroom configurations, group-oriented technology, and informal meeting spaces have been specifically drawn to promote student-centered learning.
