An afternoon crash on I-24 westbound (toward Nashville) shut-down the interstate for most of Wednesday afternoon (3/1/2017).

Chief dispatch at the Tennessee Highway Patrol told NewsRadio WGNS that the call about the two-vehicle crash came in at 12:57PM and occurred near mile marker 77 (Medical Center Parkway).

At this point there are no fatalities, but LifeFlight air ambulance was called to the scene.

Trooper Lance Suggs made measurements and gathered evidence. The interstate was opened for a brief period to allow some traffic flow, and then the Highway Patrol re-routed traffic off the westbound I-24 for several more hours in order to complete the investigation.
