It happened around 3:15 when 27-year old Joshua Smith of Lascassas Pike lost control of his red Honda motorcycle. The Murfreesboro Police Fatal Accident Team report indicates Smith lost control while negotiating a turn and hit the curb, which sent the motorcycle airborne. The victim was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a Ford Taurus. Smith was unresponsive at the scene. He was transported by Rutherford County Emergency Medical personnel to MTMC, then lifeflighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. An investigation continues into the crash.
