The AP top ten statewide prep basketball polls are full of local flavor. Defending state champion Blackman boys are ranked fourth in the first Triple-A poll of the year, behind Memphis Hamilton, Southwind and Knox Bearden. They're the only boys team in the county ranked.

That's a different story on the girls side, as five teams are ranked. Defending state and national champion Blackman remains a top the Class Triple-A poll. Riverdale is ranked second and Oakland fourth in that same poll. The Smyrna girls are tied with Morristown West for tenth. The Central Lady Tigers are ranked second, behind Elizabethon, in the Class Double-A poll.
