Murfreesboro Police are investigating two separate incidents of shots fired.

The first happened around 10:30 Saturday night on Centerpointe Drive. The victim reported a black male, who he says came out of nowhere, fired a single gunshot and ran between two nearby homes. A 9mm casing was recovered at the scene. It was unclear who was the target of the gunfire.

In another incident, police were called to Cookout Restaurant on South Rutherford Boulevard around 12:30 Sunday morning. The manager told police there were multiple shots fired and two vehicles left the area at a high rate of speed. Eight 40-caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene.

It's not know whether the incidents are related.
