Sex offenders may not be rehabilitated

Rehabilitation of sex offenders has been heavily discussed by psychologist over the years, with many suggesting that sex offenders cannot be rehabilitated.

According to the United States Office of Justice, "Inconsistent research findings and the fact that those studies that have found a positive treatment effect have not been randomized controlled trials are two primary factors contributing to the uncertainty about treatment effectiveness."

As far as finding out if sex offender treatment works or does not work, there have not been enough studies to have a clear answer.

In the meantime, monitoring convicted sex offenders remains the most effective tool for law enforcement in Tennessee.
