Murfreesboro Police Officers, Detectives and Dispatchers helped Santa fulfill the Christmas wishes of 19 children Saturday morning at the Department's annual "Shop With a Cop".

The children, their parents, and the officers started their morning being treated to breakfast at McDonald's inside Walmart on South Rutherford Blvd. Accompanied by an officer, the children were given $250 each to purchase games, toys, and clothing items. Each child was also given a bicycle.

This event was funded through donations from Walmart, Sam's Club, Angels for Protectors, PATCO, McDonalds, and several private individuals who wished to remain anonymous.

"Even though we were helping the kids buy presents, it was the officers who received the real gift," said Officer Haley Alden. "The child I shopped with purchased games and clothing but was concerned about wanting to help other children. It was an amazing experience."

"I am truly blessed to be able to serve my community as a police officer. To have the opportunity to spend time with these kids outside of the traditional role of a police officer and show them that we are good people made this Christmas special," said Officer Chris Williams.
