Siegel Boys Claim Region Crown
Twice in their history, after falling in the district tournament championship game, Siegel (30-1) has come back to win the region tournament title. 2014 makes it three. The Stars beat Blackman (24-6) 59-52 to also secure a home sectional game next Monday. Siegel shot a stellar 57-percent from the field, 20-of-35 with three 3-pointers. They also were 14-of-15 from the free throw line. Senior Dominique Gooch, who has worked himself back into a starting role in recent games, had 21-points for the Stars. He's arguably the hottest player for Siegel this postseason. Blackman has a Lukas Hart, who's been equally hot lately. He scored 19 points for the Blaze.
With the win, Siegel will host the Walker Valley Mustangs (23-10) Monday night. They lost the 3AAA Tournament championship to the Stone Memorial Panthers (27-6) 72-54. Blackman will travel to Stone Memorial, which is in Crossville Monday night. Tip in both games is at 7pm. WGNS State Farm coverage of the boys sectionals will send us to Crossville for the Blackman/Stone Memorial game. We will also tape-delay broadcast the Siegel/Walker Valley home game. Coverage begins Monday night at 6:45pm.
