For the seventh time in the school's 11-year history, the Siegel Stars are headed to the boys region championship game and sectional tournament. But it was a dog fight, as they outlasted Smyrna 55-42. The Stars got two three's and another bucket to go up by double digits just before halftime. They held off a second half charge by the Bulldogs, who cut the lead in the fourth to 10 twice late, for the win. Ryan Jones finished with 24 points, Dominique Gooch 13 points, Aden Burton 11 and Charles Clark 10. Jaylen Johnson led the Bulldogs with 21. Smyrna's season ends in the semifinals of the region for the first time in 13 years, with a 14-and-17 record.

Blackman and Siegel will meet for a fourt time this season, with the Stars winning both regular season games and the Blaze the district tournament championship. The Stars lost the district championship twice back in 2008 and 2010, but each of those times, they won the region tournament title. Last year, Blackman edged Siegel 60-56 in overtime for the region title. The tipoff will be at 7pm and WGNS State Farm coverage begins at 6:45pm with the DirecTV by EnterSource Pregame Show.
