Community residents are invited to remember victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks during a solemn ceremony at 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, said Sheriff Robert Arnold.

Honor guards from the Murfreesboro Fire Department, the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services and Sheriff's Office will pay tribute to the first responders for their ultimate sacrifice with a 21-gun salute and a bell-ringing ceremony.

"We decided to scale down the event this year and pay homage to the emergency responders and other victims who tragically lost their lives in the terrorist attacks," Sheriff Arnold said.

Sgt. Jimmy Cassidy of the Community Services Unit said the Community Fair event normally held during the 9-11 event has been moved to the Halloween Trunk or Treat event Friday, Oct. 31 at the Sheriff's Office.
