A Smyrna man has landed behind bars as a result of a 10-month investigation in Nashville. The Smyrna man was however arrested by chance, he was the passenger in a car that reportedly left the scene of a possible drug transaction.... Of course the car he was sitting shotgun in had three pounds of marijuana in it.
The case was led by the Metro Police department’s Gang Unit and it focused on alleged cocaine sales by convicted drug felon Toye Eson. The case led to his arrest and that of three others, along with the seizure of cocaine, marijuana, cash and guns.
Eson, 27, of Willowbranch Drive in Nashville, is charged with selling cocaine to police operatives on four occasions, as well as possessing a quarter pound of marijuana. He was taken into custody during the execution of a search warrant at his home.
This case also led Gang detectives to execute a search warrant at 508 Shoreline Lane in Davidson County, the home of Eson associate and convicted drug felon Anthony Cunningham, 29. Seized from there were three ounces of cocaine hidden in a kitchen flour jar, a half-pound of marijuana in a drawer, a loaded semi-automatic pistol in a kitchen cabinet, a second semi-automatic pistol hidden under a mattress, and $835 cash. At the time of his arrest Tuesday, Cunningham was still on probation for a 2007 conviction.
Detectives also stopped a 2004 Mercedes as it left the Shoreline Lane home. Recovered were three pounds of marijuana and $7,000 cash. The driver, Navin Shea, 28, of San Francisco, California, and his passenger, convicted drug felon and parolee Johnny Mounsena, 30 of Smyrna, were arrested and charged with marijuana possession for resale.
