A case that was investigated by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office will head to court on Friday (August 11, 2017).

Benjamin R. Thatcher is scheduled to file a plea in a Rutherford County Circuit Courtroom where he will face three counts of rape and four counts of sexual battery.

According to court documents, the Smyrna man is currently free on bond.

Thatcher was originally arrested in 2016 when the investigation by Sheriff's Office Ty Downing handed the case to a Grand Jury to decide on the extent of charges to be filed. Details of the case have not been released as they were in a sealed indictment.
