Smyrna Voters Keep Reed as Mayor

Voters in Smyrna kept Mary Esther Reed as mayor, defeating challenger Jeff Hollingshead by 648 votes. Reed received nearly 54-percent of the vote (4,505) to Hollingshead's 46-percent (3,857).

Vice Mayor Marc Adkins and incumbent H.G. Cole were also re-elected, along with Councilwoman-elect Lori North. She edged Regina Medlin by 250-votes for the final seat on the ballot.

Rick Wise, who ran unopposed, won re-election to the council for two more years. He was appointed by the council last year to fill the vacent seat of Reed when she replaced former Mayor Tony Dover.
