Smyrna Woman Charged with DUI & Drug Possession

A 22-year old Smyrna woman was arrested by Murfreesboro Police on charges of DUI and possession of a schedule four drug. Amanda Dawn Mitchell of Shirley Road was booked after being arrested shortly after midnight Friday by Officer Nicholas Sapp. According to the arrest report, Officer Sapp followed Mitchell's vehicle about a quarter of a mile eastbound on Old Fort Parkway. During that time, he reports the vehicle drove into oncoming lanes while trying to negotiate a curve. When the officer pulled over the car, he says Mitchell ran up onto the curb. After failing a field sobriety test, Mitchell was placed under arrest. A search of her car also turned up an Aleve bottle with Xanax pills inside. Mitchell will be in court July 23rd to answer to the charges. She was jailed on 25-hundred dollars bond.
