Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold was one of many law enforcement professionals who lined NW Broad Street near State Route 840 on Saturday night to help the Highway Patrol with a sobriety checkpoint. Sheriff Arnold told WGNS that several arrests were made on Saturday evening just before midnight.

As motorist drove through the checkpoint, deputies simply asked the question, “Have you had anything to drink tonight.” If a motorist appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they were directed to pull to the side of the road so that officers could further evaluate the situation.
