Judge Davenport told us that her court seeks to rehabilitate, not punish children.

A few pointers for online social media involving children:

  • Avoid using location services like Foursquare and disable location services on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. when posting photos.
  • Avoid posting that you are going on vacation, or posting pictures while on vacation... until you are back home. Be also aware of the ramifications of using your cell phone at school and discuss responsible behavior within school
  • Teach children the dangers of friending new people they don't personally know and the problem of teens wanting to meet a someone they don't know in person.
  • Did you realize that Federal law prohibits minors under 13 from using a social network without a parent's permission.
