Some residents trying to change abortion laws in Tennessee

Tennessee is an abortion destination state and this November, multiple residents in Rutherford County and beyond are working together to change that. According to the “Yes on 1” group, 1 in 4 women seeking an abortion in the Volunteer state are from a neighboring state.  The group also tells us that Tennessee has the fewest abortion restrictions of any state in the Southeast.

Citizens, legislators and grass roots groups like “Yes on 1” have been working toward the opportunity to amend the Tennessee State Constitution to allow for reasonable restrictions on abortion.  The effort, known as Amendment 1, will be on the ballot November 4th.

The group is raising money to further raise awareness of the effort with a desert reception benefiting “Yes on 1” August 14th. The event will be at The Messick Shed located in Lascassas at 4704 Lascassas Pike.
