Someone Tried to Catch Mitchell Neilson Elementary On Fire?

Unknown persons allegedly tried to start a fire next to a local school, that according to a Murfreesboro Police Report. The incident occurred at Mitchell Neilson Elementary School and the fire caused little if any damage.

The police report highlights the investigation into the small fire stating, “(The) Murfreesboro Fire Department believes the fire was intentional and that someone had used lighter fluid to start the fire.” Fire Marshall Carl Peas was cited as the one who suggested the fire was intentional.

The fire was in the mulch next to the building. The subject who started the fire allegedly put coals in the mulch and then doused the coals in lighter fluid, lighting the coals on fire. The coals were spread out in a distance of about 20-feet. One bush caught fire and burn marks were seen on the building, although the building did not catch fire.

At this point no arrests have been made.
