South Church Street has been the scene of several serious crashes after police pursuits in recent months. Of course, the most recent when a 28-year old young mother was killed as authorities pursued a stolen S-U-V out of Coffee County last Friday.

Eye witnesses told authorities that the stolen SUV was involved in a head-on crash in which a woman and her young child were traveling. The infant survived, thanks to a child restrain seat. However, the mother was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On April 12th, a Tennessee Highway Patrol pursuit ended in a crash at South Church Street and Warrior Drive. Then April 14th, a teenager was killed and two others hurt in a pursuit by a Rutherford County Sheriff's deputy which ended in a crash at South Church and Joe B. Jackson Highway.
