Special Kids Soon To Double Number of Children

Special Kids had a breakfast Friday morning (3/28/2014) at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic to honor those who worked to make the third annual race on March 22nd a huge success.

The non-profits' Executive Director Chris Truelove said, "This year's race had over 2,700 runners and raised in excess of $196,000, and funds continue to come-in from persons who ran."

WGNS News also spoke with Special Kids Director of Development Stephanie Folkmann . . .

Truelove said that once they are in the new structure, the original site on Arnette Street will be renovated. That phase is expected to take about three-months. 

Murfreesboro Medical Clinic continued to be the primary sponsor for the yearly 15K, 5K and 1-mile run. Friday's breakfast was sponsored by MaxShred.

The breakfast not only allowed Special Kids to thank those who were involved, it also was an opportunity for those interesting in supporting this organization to get to know each other (see photo below)

Special Kids is a Christian, nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic rehabilitation and professional nursing services to children with special needs.  The Murfreesboro care group started in 1998 with just one child. Since then, Special Kids has served over 2,000 children from 11 different counties in middle Tennessee. It is located on Arnette Street, but the expansion is adjacent to the present facility and faces East Main Street.
