Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and Surgicenter (MMC) continues their longstanding partnership with local nonprofit Special Kids by investing $25,000 to help children with special needs receive therapy and nursing services.
The clinic's investment also continues their founding sponsorship of the annual Special Kids Race to be held on March 21, 2015, at MMC. The clinic's support of Special Kids has helped the therapy and nursing center to expand its funding base to continue serving every child in need regardless of a family's ability to pay.
"We want our money to go back to helping people," said Joey Peay, CEO of MMC. "We know when Special Kids is able to serve more children, our community is being impacted. This race has been a great way for Special Kids to grow their impact of the community, and we enjoy being a part of it."
Today, the Special Kids Race is one of the largest races in Murfreesboro, with 3,000 participants expected in this year's 15K, 5K and One Mile distances. The fourth annual event will start with a bang when reenactors from the Stones River Battlefield fire a cannon at the start line. Runners and walkers are welcome and will be awarded finishing medals by children from Special Kids.
"We had gladly supported Special Kids for several years prior to the inaugural race," said Peay. "The race allowed us to leverage our investment in Special Kids resulting in an exponential increase in their revenue enabling them to provide more services to more patients. As interest and support of the race continues to grow, Special Kids gets to reap those ever-increasing rewards. We are excited to have been a catalyst for such positive change in our community!"
Registration prices are discounted for all registrations who sign up by January 15. Register online at specialkidsrace.org or visit the website for more details.
