The 5th Annual Special Kids Race will be held this Saturday, March 19, at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC). One of Murfreesboro's largest races, the event is expecting over 3,000 participants in the 15K, 5K, and 1 Mile race.

With nearly 3,000 current registrations, the race is close to full capacity. Race fees are $45 for the 15K, $40 for the 5K, and $20 for the 1 Mile Fun Run. Registration is currently available online through Friday, March 18, with event day registration available on March 19 for an additional $5 late fee.

The 2016 Special Kids Race will be held in memory of Quinton Young, a child who attended Special Kids Therapy & Nursing Center for 10 years. Young recently passed away on February 29 due to having hydrocephalus since birth. To honor and celebrate Young's life, race organizers will be dedicating this year's event to this special child who touched many in the local community.

Beyond entrance in the event, race participants receive a soft-style t-shirt, race medal, and baseball cap from presenting sponsor MMC. For the fifth year, all race expenses are covered by sponsors, allowing funds from registration fees to directly benefit children with special needs at Special Kids.
