SPECIAL KIDS Raises $37K+ With Golf Tournament
Local nonprofit Special Kids announced Thursday that it raised over $37,000 through the 15th Annual Special Kids Golf Classic held on May 8 at Indian Hills Golf Course in Murfreesboro.
The annual event hosted 53 teams with over 200 players participating to help children with special needs in middle Tennessee. The event held a morning tournament that began with breakfast provided by HCA, Smoothie King, Food Lion and Lewis Bakeries. The Industrial Machine and Tool Players team with Jonathan Williamson, BJ Bobo, Marshal Lorence, and Tony Switzer won the morning round. Lunch was provided for all participants from Slick Pig BBQ with drinks provided by Newk’s Eatery. Team Jasey took the top title for the afternoon tournament and consisted of Jason Miller, Rich Craig, Roger Farmer, and Bradley Farmer.
Nissan presented the tournament for the fourth consecutive year, and Slick Pig stepped up as the lunch sponsor for the third year. Grand Slam sponsors included Yates Services, Tri-Star Title & Escrow, Aetna Health Insurance, and Newk’s Eatery. Eagle sponsors were Smoothie King, Haynes Brothers, The Knight Agency, and Claiborne & Taylor Insurance followed by Birdie sponsors Ascend Federal Credit Union, Huddleston Steele, First National Bank of McMinnville, and Belinda Arender of Midsouth Home Mortgage. Holes were sponsored by 21 other local businesses supporting the nonprofit.
Special Kids is a Christian nonprofit offering rehabilitation and nursing services to children with special needs. The Murfreesboro-based ministry started with one child in 1998 and has grown to serve over 2,600 children from 18 counties in middle Tennessee.
