Special Kids' recent Friendraiser brings in over $110,000

Special Kids' 16th Annual Friendraiser Banquet raised over $110,000 for children with special needs on Thursday, September 24, at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.

Over 470 guests enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Demos' Restaurant and Peter D's. The event was presented by both restaurants as well as by the Ramsey Family Foundation. The year 2015 marked the ninth consecutive time that Demos' Restaurant presented the Friendraiser Banquet.

The evening celebrated the theme 'Set Free' with musical performances by renowned Christian artists Ginny Owens, Cindy Morgan, and Andrew Greer. The fundraiser commenced and closed with a silent auction with gifts from local Special Kids supporters. Judge Ben Hall McFarlin was honored for his commitment to Special Kids as the recipient of the annual Founder's Award, given by his niece and Special Kids co-founder, Carrie Goodwin.

Sponsors for the event included Demos' Restaurant, Peter D's, and the Ramsey Family Foundation as the presenting sponsors. Supporting sponsors were Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC) and AdamsPlace. Underwriter sponsors included Beverly Davis with LPL Financial, Tri-Star Title and Escrow, Ben Phillips with Northwestern Mutual, TNT Battery, Tennessee Pediatrics, and Tiffany Lane with media sponsors the Murfreesboro Pulse, VIP Murfreesboro, and WGNS Radio.

Special Kids is a Christian therapy and nursing center for children with special needs. The Murfreesboro-based ministry started with one child in 1998 and has grown to serve over 2,900 children from 18 counties in middle Tennessee.
