Mother Nature unleashed her spring-like fury on Rutherford County. A powerful line of thunderstorms moved through Thursday night, leaving behind downed trees, scattered damage reports and some power outages. The worst of the weather appeared to be in northwestern Rutherford County, near Rockvale, Smyrna and Almaville. Large trees were reported down in the Chestnut Street and Cumberland Drive areas of Smyrna. Trees and power lines were downed across Weakley Lane, just northeast of the Smyrna Airport.

In another report, a tin roof barn was destroyed near Almaville Road and One Mile Lane. Also there, five-foot diameter trees were taken down by straight line winds. In southern parts of the county, power lines were reported down on Flat Rock Road and a tree was across I-24 blocking lanes near mile marker 89 for a time. During the height of the storm, Middle Tennessee Electric's outage report showed outages in the areas of Almaville Road, South Lowery, Old Nashville Highway, Baker Road, Nissan Drive, Stewart Creek Road and Hazelwood Drive.
