With the threat of significant winter weather, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has declared a Level III State of Emergency. Rain will change over to snow across much of the state. Snowfall rates of an inch or two up to a half-ah-foot or more are expected statewide.

Travel issues are expected to begin to go down hill throughout the day and not expected to improve much throughout the weekend with temperatures below freezing until Sunday afternoon.

A statement from the Tennessee Department of Transportation said all 95 counties are stocked up with salt, snow plows and brine trucks are ready to roll and employees are set to mobilize to clear roads of snow and ice.
