The Siegel High School Band has announced the 3rd Annual Stones River Championship high school band competition to be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, TN. Over 4,000 people are expected to attend this one day event! Siegel High School Band will host 18 bands from across Tennessee and Alabama. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. and final awards are scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.
General admission tickets for the event will be available at the gate for $15 per person, ages 11 to adult. A paid ticket includes access to both preliminary and final competitions. Contest programs will be available for $2 (while supplies last). Admission for children ages 10 and under is free. Parking is free at Siegel High School, Siegel Middle School and Northside Baptist Church.
Along with great band performances throughout the day, there will be food vendors, contest t-shirts and other souvenirs from AWB Apparel. There will be lots of great food available at concessions, as well as several vendors - McCleary's Kettlecorn and Funnel Cakes, Kona Ice and Maggie Moo's!
Tickets for a $2,500 cash prize for the 2nd Annual Siegel High School Band Raffle will also be available for purchase at the contest! Tickets are $10 (must be age 18 to purchase), with a limited number of tickets to be sold. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn on December 14th at the Siegel High School Holiday concert. You do not have to be present to win.
The high school bands participating in the 3rd annual Stones River Championship are (in order of preliminary performance) Fred J. Page, Shelbyville Central, Summit, Independence, Oakland, East Hickman, White House Heritage, John Overton, Buckhorn, LaVergne, Antioch, Bob Jones, McGavock, Munford, Union City, Macon County, Hillwood and Cascade.
To close the final contest performances, the Siegel High School marching band will perform their 2017 competition show entitled Angels Unaware! On Saturday, September 16th the Siegel Band competed in the 29th Annual Hendersonville Golden Invitational in Hendersonville, TN. The Siegel High School Band finished with awards in 1st Place Class A Color Guard, 1st Place Class A Hornline, 1st Place Class A Band and as the contest Grand Champions! The Siegel Band travels next to Austin Peay University to compete in the Bands of America Tennessee Regional Championship.
The Stones River Championship seeks to provide bands with the best possible educational feedback they can receive at a band competition. Class, Division and Grand Champion awards will be presented at the end of the evening. The Stones River Championship travelling trophies were generously provided by former Siegel High School band boosters, Tim and Margaret Bowling.
Proceeds from the Stones River Championship will be used toward the ongoing operational costs of the Siegel High School band. The award winning Siegel High School band, under the direction of Alex White & Alex Sears, is beginning its fifteenth year of existence, and is proud to have been an award-winning marching band each and every year.
