Shoppers and their families are invited to Stones River Mall's first event of the year! Movie at the Mall will feature a free showing of Disney's "Finding Dory" at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, in the Food Court.

Along with complimentary popcorn (while supplies last), attendees can enjoy snack specials from Sbarro, The Cookie Store, Wetzel's Pretzels, and Joe Muggs Café (located inside Books-A-Million).

"Students will be out of school on Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and we'd love for them to spend the morning with us!" said Melinda Noblitt, Marketing & Events Manager for Stones River Mall. "We thought a mini-movie experience would get everyone excited about our new movie theater, which is slated to open at Stones River Mall later this year."

Stones River Mall announced the lease agreement with Ovation Cinema Grill, Carmike's premium fullservice cinematic dining concept, this past June. The new movie theater will have 9 screens and feature seat-side food and beverage service. It will be built where the current Food Court and Books-AMillion store are located.

Books-A-Million is slated to relocate in mid-March to the space formerly occupied by Hancock Fabrics. Construction has begun inside that space, according to Noblitt, but because the process involves mostly interior work, shoppers won't notice many changes immediately.

Additionally, Food Court tenants will be completely closed by the end of January in preparation for demolition of that part of the mall and new construction of the movie theater building.
