A local store employee allegedly let customers walk off with $3,700 in FREE merchandise.

It was apparently an inside job that led to a company investigation into one JC Penny employee earlier this month. Reports indicate Murfreesboro Police responded to the department store in the shopping mall off of Old Fort Parkway to look into the accusations of theft.

Once at the store, an MPD officer met with the complainant who claims one of the store clerks acted as if he were ringing up customers, but actually let the customers go without paying for the merchandise. The incidents that were caught on tape evidently involve the same two unknown customers each of the seven times the theft was said to have occurred.

The seven thefts totaled $3,700 and took place over a 15-day time span. The subject who was arrested will soon face the courts on theft related charges.
