An unknown man reportedly banged on an apartment door in Murfreesboro and yelled, “Rutherford County Police, Open the Door!” The female who was inside the apartment looked out the peep hole, but did not see anyone, so she ran towards the back of the unit and hid. That was when the unknown man shot through the door.

The victim remained hidden inside the South Rutherford Boulevard Apartment until the coast was clear on Thursday night. Scared and in shock, she called her friend who called the police. Officers arrived on the scene and found one bullet hole in the door and two holes in the walls of the interior of the apartment.

Murfreesboro Police spoke to a witness in another unit at University Gables Apartments and the witness told officers they heard someone banging on a door yelling police. The witness said they watched out their window as the subject fired a shot at the door.

The witness described the culprit as a black male standing about 6-feet tall. The subject was said to be skinny and was wearing a grey tank top with camouflage pants. He fled the scene in a late 90’s model car, green in color.

At this point, no arrests have been made. The resident of the apartment did not know who the culprit may be.
