Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Ladder 6, Engines 1 and 4, and Rescues 7 and 8 responded to a house fire located at 610 Federal Court shortly after 5:00 Sunday evening.

When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the front porch and the right, front side of the home when facing the structure.

Crews immediately began attacking the fire and according to Shift Commander Dale Maynard, it did not take long to knock the fire down. “Even though the fire had a pretty good jump on us, we didn’t have to use much water on it,” Maynard said.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were associated with the incident.

Most of the damage was contained to the porch and front, right side of the home. However, the home did receive smoke and heat damage throughout. The neighboring house, 608 Federal Court, also received minor heat damage to the siding.

The occupants of 610 Federal Court were displaced. The American Red Cross was called to assist.

MFRD’s Fire Marshal’s Office was also called to the scene to conduct a routine investigation.
