Suspect Accused of Hit and Run Pulled Out of His Car by Murfreesboro Police

A car accident at 8:30, Wednesday morning sent police to the Regal Inn on South Church St. While on route officers got word that the white Kia Rio involved in the wreck fled the scene after hitting two separate cars. It was also noted that the driver was armed with a knife and that he tried to run over “people at the accident scene.”

Police observed the suspect vehicle within 1,000 feet of the accident and attempted to pull the culprit over. When the man finally stopped several miles down the road, police say they had to break his window and pull him out of the vehicle.

After being arrested, 45-year old John Glenn Johnson was transported to the hospital for a complaint about chest and knee pain. The subject was charge with leaving the scene of an accident, felony evading arrest, two counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. Johnson will appear in court on July 9, 2013.

As of Thursday morning, Johnson remains behind bars.
