The man who allegedly led authorities on a high speed chase from Coffee County to Rutherford County, which ended in a fatal crash, has a new court date. Twenty-nine year old Garieon Simmons of Dechard was arraigned earlier this week on charges of vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, violation of probation and being a habitual motor vehicle offender.

Simmons is accused of leading a high speed chase through south Murfreesboro on June 24th, 2016. The chase ended in a crash on South Church Street which took the life of 28-year old Jennifer Campos. As she was turning out of a parking lot just past Veterans Parkway, her vehicle was hit in the driver's side door. Campos died at the scene while her seven month old child survived. The family of the woman has filed a 10-million dollar lawsuit against Simmons, along with the Coffee County and Rutherford County Sheriff's Departments, among others.

29-year old Garieon Simmons of Dechard, Tennessee will face the Rutherford County courts today (Monday). Simmons was the driver of a stolen SUV from Coffee County who allegedly led authorities on a high speed chase later wrecking on South Church Street in Murfreesboro.

When Simmons crashed, he ran into the side of a vehicle being driven by Jennifer Campos. Mrs. Campos was turning out of a parking lot on South Church when she was hit in the driver's side door. Her seven-month-old daughter survived the collision, but Mrs. Campos died at the scene. Campos family later filed a $10 million lawsuit against Rutherford and Coffee County Sheriff's Departments and also named Simmons in the suit.

Simmons, who will be arraigned in court today (Monday), will face charges of first-degree murder, aggravated vehicular homicide and felony evading charges. He is also charged with DUI, theft and aggravated vehicular homicide per DUI enhancement.
