20-Year old Dumarcus L. Voorhies (pictured) will be in court on Friday (8/14/15) in Murfreesboro to face an "Attempted First Degree Murder" charge. The South University Street resident was arrested earlier this year.

Police linked the man to an attempted murder case after he was pulled over earlier this year while driving a 2014 Hyundai that was involved in a shooting that was reported this past March (2015). Voorhies claimed ownership of the car during the stop, according to an arrest report filed by the Murfreesboro Police Department. As a result, the car was seized along with his phones.

The shooting in question occurred on South Rutherford Boulevard near Mercury Boulevard. Shot was 27-year old Nicholas Parks. The victim was taken to St. Thomas Hospital in Murfreesboro and later transported to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Parks survived the shooting and is out of the hospital today.

Voorhies, who told police he is currently unemployed, was also charged with "Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Burglary and Reckless Endangerment."
