A man who was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident in Murfreesboro was stopped by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office. When Murfreesboro Police arrived on the scene, the suspect was already detained and sitting next to the Sheriff's Department Patrol vehicle.

According to a police report, 24-year old Ryan R. Visitacion from Smyrna fled the accident scene and that was when a Sheriff's Department Detective saw the 1996 Green Acura SUV in the area of Memorial Boulevard. While Visitacion did not immediately pull over, he eventually decided to stop in the grass on the side of the road in front of The Family Worship Center. When officers arrived on the scene, he produced a Washington State ID stating that he did not have a Tennessee drivers license. Police also say that he was unsteady on his feet and officers could smell alcohol when he got out of the SUV. He then submitted to a field sobriety test which he failed, according to the arrest information. Soon after the test, police found an open container Colt 45 on the floor board of the drivers side.

During the investigation, it was learned that Visitacion struck two vehicles, not one as originally suggested. While the accidents did not result in serious injury, the actions did lead to two charges of "Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident." The man who now calls Smyrna, Tennessee home was also charged with DUI and violation of the open container law.

The suspect will appear in court on August 25, 2015. For now, he is free after posting a $16,000 bond.
