Suspect in November Shooting in La Vergne in Custody

La Vergne Police have arrested a suspect in the November shooting at the intersection of Nir Shreibman Boulevard and Murfreesboro Road. Spokesman Rachel Heggen tells NewsRadio WGNS Joshua Simmons was taken into custody Monday by authorities there on five warrants, including attempted first degree murder.

You may recall November 22nd, the occupants of two vehicles were exchanging gunfire with each other at the intersection. A young male was wounded, and when he exited his vehicle--it rolled into the intersection and collided with another car that was turning right onto southbound Waldron Road. Simmons was quickly developed as a suspect in the case.

More on the attempted first degree murder shooting late this past Tuesday (11/22/2016) afternoon in La Vergne. Police are looking for Joshua A. Simmons, a suspect in the case.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Nir Shreibman Boulevard and Murfreesboro Road in La Vergne. The occupants of two vehicles were exchanging gunfire with each other.

A young male was wounded, and when he exited his vehicle--it rolled into the intersection and collided with another car that was turning right onto southbound Waldron Road.

The wounded man was transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
La Vergne spokesperson Rachel Heggen tells NewsRadio WGNS, "There are multiple active warrants on Simmons at this time, and he is considered to be armed and dangerous."

Joshua A. Simmons is described as a 5-foot 5-inch tall black male with black hair, brown eyes and weighing around 210 pounds. He has a star tatoo under his left eye. He is 27-years old.
