Here is an odd, but tricky theft. A man entered the Platinum & Gold Store on North Thompson Lane to sell some jewelry. Little did the store employee know, that the bottle of acid solution they use to test precious metals to determine if they are real of fake was switched?

The suspect switched the chemicals out for water when the worker was not looking. After the switcheroo was made, approximately $5,000 was paid for fake gold items.

Here’s the kicker… The person who pulled the fast switch was caught on tape. Furthermore, the suspect showed the jewelry salesperson his ID. A second person may have been involved as well. Police also have that person’s information as well. The worker even made a photo copy of the ID’s, which are on file at the Police Department, thanks to the work of Murfreesboro Detectives.
