As we first reported over the weekend, Tim Tackett has been selected as the county's first athletic director. He beat out 32 other applicants and six other finalists for the position. Director of Schools Don Odom said Tackett was far above the other applicants in experience, administrative background and TSSAA experience.

The part time position also includes overseeing charter schools for Rutherford County. Tackett will have to resign as a member of the Rutherford County School Board in order to take on this position. The County Commission will have to name a replacement until the next countywide general election, which is next August.
