Tennessee Blood Donations Low

With the summer quickly winding down, the need for blood donors in Tennessee is up. WGNS' John Michaelson reports...

Sue Thesenga with the American Red Cross says there are generally fewer people who donate over the summer months as many people are busy with plans and projects and because school is out of session. "Twenty percent of our blood donations come from high school and college blood drives during the academic school year, so right there you can see we do experience a drop in blood donations." Thesenga says nationwide more than 41-thousand blood donations are needed every day to ensure an adequate supply.
