The state of Tennessee has received a real bummer of a distinction. The state was named one of the Most Depressing States in the U.S. by Health Magazine. The article notes that while a location isn't enough to make a person depressed, Tennessee's rates of depression as well as obesity and diabetes, which can worsen depression, helped it to make the list. In fact, the article notes that nearly 10 percent of residents have experienced an episode of major depression in the past year, the highest rate of any state.
