The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) will remain open December 5, 2018, the national day of mourning for former President George H. W. Bush.

President Trump issued an executive order to close federal offices and excuse all federal employees from duty, except those who cannot be excused for reasons of national security, defense, or other essential public business.

In honor and remembrance of former President George H. W. Bush's valor and heroic service to our country, TVHS leadership has determined that its direct care to Veterans is essential public business and must continue. No direct clinical care or services provided to Veterans will be compromised or cancelled.

TVHS had a town hall meeting scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at its Clarksville clinic. Because this does not qualify as direct care, leaders have postponed that event in compliance with President Trump's executive order, and to show the highest level of respect for President Bush. Details on a rescheduled event will be provided at a later date.
